      We are proud to present a series of dolls based on the immortal "Alice" books written by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Sir John Tenniel.
       Tenniel's illustrations appeared in the first edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland first published in 1865 and were so definitive as to be forever associated with the text. A sequel titled Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice Found There was first published in 1871 and featured the further adventures of Alice once again brilliantly illustrated by Tenniel. Both books were enormously popular when they first appeared and remain among the most important and enchanting in the realm of classic children's literature

      Alice in Wonderland - the premiere piece in the collection - is faithfully based on the original Tenniel images and vividly brought to life by R. JOHN WRIGHT DOLLS.
       Standing approximately 17" tall, Alice is fully jointed and made entirely of the finest all-wool felt incorporating a realistic sculptural body and a compelling portrait face with hand painted features. Her lovely hands have individual fingers and she has a meticulously hand-rooted mohair wig. Lewis Carroll's beloved heroine is dressed in the trademark Victorian dress tailored of custom-dyed felt topped by a cotton pinafore trimmed in silk. Around her waist is a matching silk sash. Alice wears custom-made cotton stockings and hand cobbled leather slippers. As a final perfect touch, at her throat is a custom-made gold-plated brooch engraved with the letter "A".
       Alice is produced in a limited edition of 750 pieces worldwide. She will come enclosed in a deluxe presentation box gilt-embellished with original Tenniel artwork. Included will be the accompanying signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.

 The Nursery Alice

      In 1889 a special version of the original Alice in Wonderland book appeared titled "The Nursery Alice." This version was a complete rewriting of the tale for very young children "from nought to five" with twenty of Tenniel's pictures enlarged and for the first time, beautifully colored.
       The Nursery Alice doll from R. John Wright is faithfully based on the colored Tenniel images and shows Alice holding the baby - which turned out to actually be a pig! Standing approximately 17" tall, Alice is fully jointed and made entirely of the finest all-wool felt incorporating a realistic sculptural body and a compelling portrait face with hand painted features. Her lovely hands have individual fingers and she has a meticulously hand-rooted wig made of fine European human hair - a first for R. John Wright Dolls. Lewis Carroll's Alice is dressed in a Victorian frock tailored of a subtle Naples yellow felt topped by a cotton pinafore trimmed in teal colored silk. A wide matching pleated silk sash, teal colored stockings, and hand cobbled leather slippers provide the perfect finishing touches to her outfit. In her arms Alice holds a delightful baby pig made of mohair plush and felt with hand painted detailing, jointed neck, and wearing a silk-trimmed cotton batiste bonnet.

      We are pleased to present The Mad Hatter - one of the most eagerly awaited characters in the R. John Wright ALICE IN WONDERLAND COLLECTION based on the immortal books written by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Sir John Tenniel.
       Authentically based on Tenniel's classic illustrations, The Mad Hatter stands approximately 16" tall without his top hat. He is fully jointed and constructed of the finest all wool felt with an amazing molded character head with intaglio eyes and hand painted features, a wig made of the finest custom mohair, and felt hands with individual fingers. The Mad Hatter's detailed Victorian costume consists of: a linen shirt with French cuffs and mother-of-pearl buttons; polka dot silk tie; meticulously-pieced checkered felt waistcoat and trousers; tailored, fully-lined felt jacket with covered buttons; custom made striped cotton sox; hand cobbled leather tie shoes; and a fabulous fully-lined molded felt top hat. In one hand The Mad Hatter holds a custom-made teacup and in the other, a slice of bread and butter made out of felt!

      The March Hare joins The Mad Hatter as one of the characters in the acclaimed R. John Wright ALICE IN WONDERLAND COLLECTION.
       Based faithfully on the immortal books written by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Sir John Tenniel, The March Hare will stand approximately 16" tall. He will be fully jointed and constructed of the finest mohair plush and felt with a molded character head with hand painted inset leather eyes, embroidered features, inserted whiskers, and felt "human-style" hands with individual fingers. Authentic down to the last detail, The March Hare appears as Alice saw him at the Mad Tea-Party dressed in a tailored, fully-lined felt jacket, fitted polka dot waistcoat, necktie, and striped felt trousers.
